1. Describe the time and place in which your novel is set. What clues within the book tell us this?
My book was set in the between 1825 and 1885. The clues in the book which tell me are that there are trains (which were invented in 1825) so it had to be after than but no cars (which were first invented in 1885) so it has to be between this time period. Also there is no computers but they do have some basic electronics.
My book is held in the future when the world is falling appart. This is how I know that it is in the future
2. Who are the main characters in your book? List the names and a short description of their personality traits.
Dr Van Helsing- He is a medical doctor but he is very friendly to lots of people. He is very serious in his work and always helps his friends in need.
Dr Seward- Is also caring to his friends and enjoys his work. He likes to take risks in his life.
Count Dracula- He is very cold-hearted and evil. He is a vampire and can take the form of animals, He makes other peoples lives misery and enjoys it.
The main characters in my book is Bo and Callum

Callum: Callum is very short tempered and foward thinking. He doesn't think about what will happen if his plan doesn't work he just thinks and does it. Some times he isn't very smart but bo always helps him.

Bo: Bo is very smart and powerful. She has lots of very useful skills to help her and callum survive when the world is falling apart. She is a very good fighter and she has a pet roboraptor that helps her
3. Describe the significant relationships between the main characters.
Jonathan Harker and Mina Harker are husband and wife. They never fight and love each other. Mina helps Jonathan through his hard times and even helps out with his work. When Jonathan disappears Mina becomes very worried
Dr Seward is Dr Van Helsing former apprentice. Later on in life they are very good friends and help each other whenever they can. Dr Seward always goes along with Dr Van Helsing"s plans even if he doubts them
Lucy Westenra and Arthur Holmwood are getting married. Arthur is very caring towards Lucy and they rarely fight or argue. When Lucy becomes very ill Arthur helps by getting Dr.Seward & Dr Van Helsing to help her. Arthur even gave his own blood to Lucy to help her survive.
Callum and Bo are best friends. They have a very popular relationship that is in a lot of books. They help each other whenever one of them needs help. They also often save each others life.

Ruff, Rusty and Callum have a very strange relationship. Because in the future they think girls are extinct Callum has two fathers. They are very caring to Callum and when he gets kidnapped they are very worried.

Callum,Bo and The Festers also have a strange relationship. The Festers don't like Callum but they like Bo. After a while the Fester manage to befriend Callum and Bo so they can help each other.
4. Who is your favourite character and why? Or - Who is the character that you can most closely relate to and why?
There are lots of characters that are all very intresting and colourful but my favourite character is Dr Van Helsing. Without him the story would be very boring. He plays the second most important role behing dracula. Without him the story wouldn't make much sense. I like him for a one reasons.
Firstly he has a very complex way of thinking and doesn't explain until he does it. This makes you have to think and wonder what will happen next
In vultures gate my favourite character and the one I can relate to most is Callum. He is very adventurous. I like him because he is very foward thinking and makes the story intresting. I can relate to Callum because he is the same age as me and is very adventurous and he likes to get out and do stuff.
5. Describe the style of language and literary devices that the author uses.

a) Find examples of; colourful adjectives, similes, metaphor, dramatic irony, etc..

b) Find a quote (with page number) for each example.
In dracula the language is very old styled language but it was had a lot of colourful language.
One huge part of dramatic irony is that most people know dracula is a vampire but the people in the book don't. So lots of the parts of the book you can guesse whats going on but the characters have no idea.
Some examples- a long, agonized wailing as if from fear,a tall man, thin and pale, with high nose and teeth so white and eyes that seem to be burning.

"I am too miserable, too low spirited, too sick of the world and all in it, including life itself, and I would not care if I heard at this moment the flapping of the wings of the angel of death" Pg158
The language in Vultures Gate is very modern and similair to the language we use nowadays unlike in Dracula. There is also a huge part of dramatic irony in the book is that we know Bo is a girl but Callum doesn't.

6. Is your book an example of ‘classic’ or ‘modern’ literature? You must use evidence to back up your stance. For example; has your book stood the ‘test of time’? Are there theme’s that will transcend time?
My book is a classic book. My first reason is that if you asked someone if they have heard of the book "Dracula" they will most likely say yes. This means many people know about it even though it was made a long time ago. My next reason it is a classic is that since the original copy came out it has been reprinted lots of times. My final reason is that it has been made into a a movie but the characters are also used in other movies such as "The legion of extraordinary gentlemen".
This book is a modern. My first reason is that it uses modern language like we would use nowadays. My second reason is that it has only been recently printed and hasn't been reprinted.
7. After reading the book, write a short note to a friend describing the book. Include a description of the genre, setting and difficulty level. You need to also include the following information; What were the main themes in the book? What was the central conflict? How was it resolved?

Describe your feelings towards the novel.

Did you enjoy it, why or why not?

Did you find it easy to get into? Did you like it the more that you read it?

Would you read more books by the same author, or of a similar genre?
This book is a kind of a mix of horror, fantasy and adventure. It is set in between 1825 and 1885. It is a very difficult book. The words are very small and there is lots of pages. It took me a long time to read. People that are very good readers may enjoy this book.
The central conflict in the book is that dracula is loose in London and turning people in to vampires
It was resolved by Dr Sewyard, Dr Van Helsing and Jonathan Harker hunting down dracula and eventually killing him.
I kind of enjoyed. Some parts were good but some were really boring. It was also very long so after a while I didn''t want to read it any more
No I found it really hard to get into because it was very boring at the start. But when the vampires came it got a bit more intresting.
I would read books of similar genre but not books as long.
This book is a an apocalyptic book. It is set in the future (its hard to tell exactly when) It isn't too difficult but isn't to easy either. The central conflict in the book is Callum trying too find his father. It is resolved by Bo,Callum and the other girls escaping the island and leaving to find a safe haven.
I really enjoyed this book. It was exciting pretty much the whole time. It was really easy to get into because it was all really intresting
I would read books of similiar genre and also more books by Kirsty Murray

I not exactly sure what this book will be about. I am pretty sure it is about vampires and maybe a jorney someone goes on to become a vampire. Otherwise i am not very sure what the book will be about. I think it will be exicting and intresting.

I could see from the flash of our lamps, as the rays fell on them, that the horese were coal-black and splendid animals. They were driven b ya tall man, with a long brown beard and a great black hat which semmed to hid his face from us. I could only see the gleam of a pair of very bright eyes which seemed red in the lamplight
